Plato, The Allegory of the Cave

“Better to be the poor servant of a poor master”
My interpretation was that it was a metaphor about those in society who are live under the false impressions of the shadows. The fact that they are not real and that those who believe in those shadows would fight and envy each other to falsely try to interpret them. Socrates stated that it would be better to ignorant and dumb than be one of those people. I believe that Socrates was speaking about the majority of society in general. The metaphor being that the shadows are riches, honors and worldly items that have no bearing upon the real riches such as knowledge and philosophy (education).
