He uses narrative activity when he describes the different angles from which he views the horse, he specifically takes note of from which the angle of the hoof from the ankle was perfect and how stones has seem to be placed either by the original artist or by later people. He describes the place the horse in descriptive detail when he notes how the stones may have been moved by someone else when he refers to the muzzle area that seems to be distorted. As he studies the horse further he imagines the spirit of the area by comparing this horse one of Kino's horses or one of Coronado's horses, he wonders where the original artist of the horse got his inspiration. As he describes the finer horses of the world like the Arabians he gives you a comparative idea of what the horse may have looked.
